Veteran-owned. Military discipline. 17 years protecting Chicago homes with precision roofing.
Chicago Roofing Team was founded in 2009 by Marcus Johnson, a retired Staff Sergeant with 12 years of active duty service in the United States Army, including two overseas deployments. When Marcus transitioned from military service, he brought something no trade school could teach: an unwavering commitment to precision, discipline, and mission accomplishment.
In the Army, Marcus led engineering teams responsible for constructing and maintaining critical infrastructure in hostile environments. Every bolt, every weld, every measurement had to be exact — lives depended on it. That same standard of excellence now defines every roof Chicago Roofing Team installs, repairs, or inspects across the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
Starting with a single truck and a two-man crew, Marcus built Chicago Roofing Team into one of the most respected roofing contractors in Illinois. Today, the company employs 24 full-time roofing professionals — all W-2 employees, never subcontractors — and has completed more than 2,500 roofing projects across Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties.
Every crew member at Chicago Roofing Team undergoes a rigorous onboarding program modeled after military training pipelines. New hires spend their first two weeks in classroom and field instruction covering manufacturer specifications, OSHA safety protocols, quality control checkpoints, and our proprietary 42-point inspection methodology. They do not touch a customer's roof until they have demonstrated proficiency in every phase of the operation.
Our crew leaders average 11 years of roofing experience. They manage daily site operations, enforce safety standards, and conduct real-time quality checks at each critical installation phase: underlayment, starter strips, field shingles, ridge caps, flashing, ventilation, and cleanup. Nothing passes to the next phase until the current phase meets spec.
We invest in ongoing training as well. Every quarter, our team participates in manufacturer-led certification workshops, safety refresher courses, and internal skill assessments. When GAF, Owens Corning, or CertainTeed updates their installation guidelines, our crews know about it within 48 hours and implement the changes on the very next project.
This commitment to training and standardization is why we maintain a 100% satisfaction rate across more than 2,500 completed projects, zero BBB complaints, and manufacturer certifications that less than 2% of roofing contractors nationwide qualify for.
